General Risk Management Services.
Each area of service is described below. One way we aim to deliver value for money and efficiency is looking where we can link services to minimise our work and your costs. Typically during an audit where your risk assessments are found to be weak/none existent we would undertake the assessments during the audit - it saves you time and money - and saves us looking at things twice.
We will never offer solutions that won't work, nor will we tell you what you want to hear - we will tell you what you need to know and how to fix your issues in the most practical and painless way possible.
Safety Advice, Consultancy and Competent Person
We are able to offer competively priced support for most sizes of business based on your ongoing needs. In addition to the services listed below we can provide ongoing support - answering questions as they arise, supporting specific needs and providing a source of competent advice 52 weeks a year. The type and nature of support depends entirely on you, your budget and your requirements - but these support services can be e mail or phone based - or involve regular physical visits to your premises. Think of it as having a part time Safety Manager without the ongoing wage bill. Costs are dependant on your needs but can be pay as you go, fixed price contract or whatever works best for us both.
Again this is often linked in with other services we provide and frequently develops as time and the relationship with the client develops.
Audits
We audit in line with modern safety management models and can offer this as a stand alone one off service or as the first stage in a longer relationship. The aim of an audit is to identify where you are strong or weak in terms of your safety management systems - whilst the audit will highlight obvious physical risks or poor work practices its main aim is to identify your management weaknesses that in turn allow unsafe practices to exist.
Audits are a valuable expereince for most companies and allow you a better understanding of where to focus your efforts to make the most differance.
The timescale and costs of an audit are dependant on so many factors - how large the business, how complex the business, the general risk level within the organisation and how many sites a business operates - however we can generally judge after an initial conversation how long the audit will take and give you an accurate quote at that stage. Equally we can run audits at differing levels of complexity - sometimes the best and most suitable approach is to start with high level broad brush audits that identify major issues quickly and look towards more detailed audits once the initial high level issues have been addressed.
We aim to deliver a full audit that goes beyond ticking boxes - we aim to understand your business in order to identify your issues and the most suitable solutions for you. Equally we look beyond the paper - our question isn't do you have risk assessments, a safety policy - but are they any good, do they work and are they relevant to your business. However we never treat audits as a means to generate additional work.
Safety Policy and Safety Management Systems
We can develop all your safety documents as an integral system that meets your needs both legal and practical. This is ideally matched with a risk assessment system allowing us to develop a fully integrated system to specifically meet your needs.
Coming back to our guiding philosophy these are always fully applicable to your business, we don't provide "generic" policies nor do we write safety systems/policy that are idealistic and unachievable. Remember a policy needs to fully reflect what you do to be worthwhile be it in court or in day to day management.
Risk Assessments

Yes we can do your risk assessments. Be it general risk assessments or the more specific DSE, COSHH, Manual Handling etc Assessments we are able to provide full support in terms of developing your assessments.
Again our support aims to help your business - so this service may involve writing all your assessments from scratch, updating/improving existing assessments or supporting in house staff undertaking risk assessments for you - or indeed a mix of these.
As always these are accurate and relevant - we don't simply re title some generic assessments - they're written specifically for you.
We recognise that there are a variety of needs and solutions and aim to identify and develop the most suitable systems/assessments for you. To this end we look at your business and find the right solution - whether its relatively fixed "risks" in a permamanant workplace or dynamic assessments to work with temporary workplaces we've been there and developed a solution.
We will also sit down with you and develop systems to allow in house assessments - linking in training with the process.
Training
We provide a wide range of safety training - our focus is more management based than shop floor safety. Thus our standard courses are Safety Management, Supervisor Training & Risk Assessment type courses but we can offer Manual Handling or specific courses tailored to your needs.
Accident Investigations
We can provide a full accident investigation service looking at any accident to find not only the immediate causes but also to highlight the underlying causes of accidents. The value of this service is we will tell you what you need to know - not what you want to know.
Remember the HSE rarely accepts "human error" as an excuse - most human error occurs because we let it happen - good safety systems predict where error may occur and find solutions to protect against those errors. To this end we will tell you why an accident happened beyond John Smith made a mistake.
